Taking out dams ridiculous idea

It seems preposterous to me and many people I talk to that the state would be considering destroying four dams on the Klamath River.
We are in the worst energy crisis that this country has ever had and we are considering the destruction of dams that deliver the cleanest possible type of energy. Where are the ecologists who are always demanding clean sources of energy?
It is said that the tiny salmon can live in the rivers, but can they live in the filthy lake clogged with algae?
What is the great purpose of the salmon coming to the Basin anyway? Another fish for the Indians to claim as a sacred fish?
We should be happy to be living in the 21st century and not try to go back to the 18th century. We have come a long way, baby. Cordy Starr Klamath Falls
