"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"

by Tom Mallams, Klamath County March 15, 2020

Charles Dickens began his novel A Tale of Two Cities with this phrase: "IT WAS THE BEST OF TIMES, IT WAS THE WORST OF TIMES”.

We truly live in troubled times. But these are also the best of times. We are all being tested as individuals, as families, as communities, as a Nation and as a world generation. How we act and react under these challenging times will help define who we are, not just for today but for eternity.

Offer help and support to others when possible. Use your basic common sense in all our actions and reactions.

President Donald J. Trump declared on Friday a National Day of Prayer for Sunday (March 15), shortly after declaring a state of emergency amid the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic.

"We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these....," Trump tweeted. "No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!"

Even if you may not necessarily agree with everything President Trump has done or is doing, this is certainly wise council from our leader. Now is the time to be united in all our efforts.

Our Church has temporarily suspended Church services worldwide. We have been counseled to have Sunday worship services within our individual homes. Every family circumstance is different but what a wonderful way to become closer as family.

We have always been counseled that challenging times are indeed a great opportunity to become stronger. Let’s not waste this opportunity to do exactly that. Let’s be able to look back at these troubled and challenging times and remember the positives.

LET’S ALL MAKE LEMONADE!

Tom Mallams
