FEDERAL CONSERVATION/HABITAT KLAMATH SPENDING

Since 2002, the federal government has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the Klamath Watershed (from the headwaters to the mouth of the Klamath River) for habitat restoration, water quality improvement and water conservation.  A breakdown of this funding shows that:

  • 2002 Fiscal Year Klamath funding was $75.9 million.
  • From 2003 – 2005 the average annual spending grew to over $86 million per year.
  • 2006 spending was $83.4 million
  • 2007 spending was $92.2 million
  • For 2008, the Presidents proposed budget for Klamath Spending is $86.3 million

Total Klamath Spending since 2002 is well over $500 million. The following chart represents a detailed breakdown of federal programmatic spending in the watershed over the last several years:
