An informational meeting was held in Oroville this evening with local and regional elected officials and firefighters speaking
to a crowd of people, many who lost everything in the Camp Fire, and most did not know if their homes burnt down.

California U.S. Congressman Doug LaMalfa complimented Cal Fire and the many firefighters, law enforcement and volunteers
for fighting the fire and saving lives.

He said that within 24 hours, President Trump approved major federal disaster assistance, and got FEMA headed this way.
FEMA will bring emergency crisis counseling, disaster unemployment assistance, and help for those injured or needing financial help.

LaMalfa alerted the audience to beware of scammers who flock to scenes of tragedies.

He said there is a major effort to rescue and temporarily house animals.

He praised President Trump for responding quickly to the needs of our communities.

LaMalfa ended with, "God bless you all; do hang in there."

Later in answer to questions, LaMalfa said to call your senators to get behind the Farm Bill and ask their senators
to support Forest Practices elements in the Farm Bill. He said our forests need us to lower fuels and make much better buffers
to help control these wildfires.
