Disaster Declarations in Modoc County

Emergency Loans

Due to drought conditions that began Sept. 1, 2000 and continue, Modoc County farmers may be eligible for Emergency Loans if affected by this natural disaster.

To be eligible for an Emergency Loan you must:

Have suffered at least a 30% loss of normal production directly related to the drought.  Be able to repay the loan and any other loans  Be unable to obtain credit elsewhere, and  Have adequate security.

All applicants must complete a certification of disaster losses, which reflects the exact date(s) and nature of the disaster and how it caused the loss or damage. The maximum loan amount is $500,000. This includes any existing Emergency Loan balances.

The final date to apply for an Emergency Loan will be Dec. 18, 2001.

Disaster Set-Aside for FSA Loan Borrowers

Farmers with FSA farm loans are reminded that they have until Dec. 18,2001 to apply for the disaster Set-Aside (DSA) Program. Under the DSA program, eligible borrowers can delay any or part of their FSA loan payment due this year or next year. The deferred payment will be moved to the end of the loan, to be paid with the final payment. Borrowers must apply for the program and be approved before their payment can be set-aside.
