Local chosen to photograph rodeo finals
Mary Williams Hyde to record four-day event in Winnemucca, Nevada

Herald and News 10/30/11

Klamath Falls photographer Mary Williams Hyde, who is best known for her work with traditional buckaroos, will serve as the official photographer for the second annual Western States Ranch Rodeo Association National Finals in Winnemucca, Nev.

The four-day event will run Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 3-6, at the Winnemucca Events Complex, according to a press release.

During the year, the rodeo association has sanctioned 32 ranch rodeos and more than 20 ranch bronc riding events in nine Western states. The top 30 teams and individual contestants will vie for more than $40,000 in cash and prizes.

Hyde said the top 30 four-man teams will compete in events resembling everyday ranch work, such as branding, doctoring, tiedown steer roping and trailer loading. The national finals also will feature stock-saddle bronc riding with 30 contestants competing for 10 berths in the Nov. 6 finals.

New this year is the association’s Ranch Dog Challenger on Thursday.
