(AP) - The proposed Klamath Basin
Restoration Agreement could be in
jeopardy.
This, due to a potential violation of
Oregon law that some allege took place
during the nearly 3-year negotiating
period that led to the proposal.
The law in question is under the
Oregon revised statutes.
It reads in part: "All negotiations
in which the director participates under
this section shall be open to the
public."
The law also states that the director
must provide the public with regular
reports on the progress of the
negotiations.
But the negotiations were NOT open to
the public and no progress reports were
made public while negotiations were
taking place, as the law stipulates.
