Time to Take Action
Our Klamath Basin Water Crisis
Upholding rural Americans' rights to grow food,
own property, and caretake our wildlife and natural resources.

February 5th 2011

A new, grass roots group has been formed to represent irrigators and other interested citizens initially, to oppose Klamath Irrigation District, (KID), Shasta View Irrigation District and Malin Irrigation District’s Petition in Klamath Circuit Court, seeking to “validate” the KBRA and KHSA,(dam removal).  Also to oppose these Districts attempt to “validate” the signing of these two agreements as legal.

This new group was formed out of frustration with various irrigation districts and parts of our local government. Their individual views and opinions have been ignored by those that are supposed to represent them. These citizens are voicing their opposition to the KBRA and KHSA  by filing a Response to the Klamath Irrigation District Petition, in Klamath County Circuit Court.

The name of this group is “CITIZENS PROTECTING RURAL OREGON”, (CPRO).

The President is Richard Drazil.

Public Information Contact, Al King, 541-331-2369.

Treasurer is Maudie Smith.

Other groups that are filing against KID in the Circuit Court on Tuesday, include Water for Life, 503-375-6003, and Klamath Off-Project Water Users Association, with contact person: Tom Mallams, 541-533-2580 or 541-892-2626.

There is a rally and informational presentations scheduled on Tuesday, February 8th at 12:00 noon, in front of the Klamath County Court Building, across from the County Government Center on Main Street, Klamath Falls.
