USGS update of water conditions and fish distribution

Sept 3, 2004

Dissolved oxygen and pH levels were higher this week at most sites in our study area. DOs ranged from 5.6 to almost 12 mg/L at sites in the southern portion of the study area and 7.5 to 14.1 mg/L at northern sites. Levels of pH ranged from 8.5 to 9.1 with measurements tending to be higher in the north. Water temperatures were roughly the same as the week before, ranging from 17.8 to 20.4 'C.

Radio-tagged suckers continued to redistribute into the study area from the areas near Pelican Bay where they had concentrated two weeks ago. No dead suckers were found by our crews this week.
